Panama Retirement- A Day in the Life

Posted on May 13, 2014 by admin in Retirement

It’s a gross, dreary day here in New York. I’m watching the time pass on the office clock and yawning. A cold, rainy, day where I have to wear gloves inside makes me wonder what I would be doing if I wasn’t stuck in a 9-5 job any longer and had all the time in the world to do with as I please.

The first thing I would do, and this may just be the cold and bitter New York winter talking, would be to move to somewhere warm. I don’t like being cold and I don’t know anyone who does. I would love to be warm all the time. I guess I’m looking at a Panama retirement. It’s definitely warm there.

Secondly, it would have to be a place where I could look out on natural beauty instead of the ashy brick walls of the buildings around me. How about palm trees, white sandy beaches, and clear blue water? Oh yes, that sounds really nice. I’d love to wake up to the sounds of tropical birds chirping and a warm breeze floating through my open window. Living in Panama is starting to sound really good!

I would love to take off my shoes, go out on my front porch in a secure gated community, wave to my neighbors, and walk to the private beach. Maybe take a walk down to the dock and get a boat ride to the national wildlife preserve on the island off the coast. Perhaps I’ll take a dip in the pool or have a nice game of tennis with friends. Panama retirement doesn’t mean I’m not up and moving around doing things!

Maybe I’ll go down to the supermarket and buy great fruit and other local foods for dinner. My daydreams are making my mouth water!

Alas, I’m not living in Panama; I’m still here in cold and blustery New York. But someday I will be retiring there and will be able to live a nice warm, beautiful place that has lots of things to do instead of sitting here just daydreaming about it.

Still, the daydreams are a great way to pass the day and break up the monotony. I think that living in Panama would not require such daydreams. I think that living there would be its own wonderful experience all its own. I can’t wait until that dream can become a reality.
